I am Professor of Philosophy in the philosophy department at New York University. My areas of interest include Kant, early modern philosophy (especially Leibniz), nineteenth- and early twentieth-century German philosophy (especially Schopenhauer and neo-Kantianism), aesthetics, animal ethics, philosophy of religion, and existentialism (broadly conceived). Before joining my colleagues at NYU, I taught at the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Notre Dame.
I am also Co-Editor of Archiv für Geschichte der Philosophie and Co-Director of SWIP-NYC (the NYC chapter of the Society for Women in Philosophy).
